I have noticed that many of my ELLs do not volunteer as much in their classroom as they do in their ESL pull out class. After talking with teachers their seems to be a consistent quietness among ELLs because they are either shy or feel "less than" compared to their native English speaking classmates. One way to help overcome this is providing sentence frames for your students. Sentence frames can give your student the confidence they need to share out on a topic and make all the difference in your classroom. Here are just a few that I found on TPT. You can download and print them for free. If you would like me to print them off for you and laminate them I would be glad to do that, just let me know. I know there are other sentence frames out there that are helpful as well, so let me know if you would like specific ones.
