4 Games to increase Vocabulary

http://www.

We all know how important vocabulary is for our students success, but we struggle to sometimes find the time to make it a priority or we run out of ideas.  Having some alternatives to worksheets that really leave our students leaving with a sense of accomplishment and learning is always a great thing.  I loved these ideas for a fun way to build vocabulary and could see how these games are adaptable to any grade level.  I might have the students give the definition or use the word in a sentence with the first game "Heads up, 7 up" rather than them just saying the word, unless you're going to use it for spelling or contraction practice.  It can also be great to use in any subject as well, not just reading!  Hope you try these with your students!  Let me know how it goes and if you would adapt it in a different way that could be beneficial to other teachers. Love, Love, Love it! Also 2nd grade teachers you might find some other great ideas on this website to use in your classroom.  Thanks "Saddleupfor2ndgrade" blog!

Math Vocabulary & Sentence Frames

http://whoswhoandnew.blogspot.com/2015/04/fractions-sentence-frames.html
I really liked the activities on the "Who's Who and Who's New" blog for building fraction vocabulary.  This teacher uses sentence frames and hands on activities that will surely help any student become familiar with the vocabulary needed to understand and answer fraction questions.  I love finding new and exciting ways to help our ESL students be successful!!
